Daryl Mitchell on Tuesday was a happy man. The New Zealand all-rounder was bought by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 14 crore. The all-rounder in a social media post after selection expressed his enthusiasm at playing for such a successful IPL team. Mitchell also sounded excited to get a chance to play with CSK captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Mitchell made his debut in the IPL 2022 season, playing two games after the Rajasthan Royals purchased him for his base price of Rs 75 Lakh in the auction. The all-rounder went unsold in last year’s auction, when he was listed for Rs 1 crore.

In a video after he was sold, Mitchell appeared very happy to bag such a lucrative contract and play for one of the most successful IPL side.
He addressed the video to the Chennai fans, saying, “Hi Chennai fans, it’s Daryl Mitchell here. I want to say a huge thank you for allowing me to be a part of this family and to put on the yellow jersey. It’s a wonderful franchise and I can’t wait to be a part of it. Also really excited to play with Devon Conway and Mitchell Santner as well as Rachin Ravindra now, the fellow Kiwis. And also to learn from MS (Dhoni) and play under Flem (Stephen Fleming) and experience what it is to be a part of the Chennai changing room. So really looking to be a part of this group and of course, ‘Whistle Podu’,”
