IPL 2024 Auction: Sanjay Manjrekar advices franchises to look beyond 50-over World Cup performances

Sanjay Manjrekar advises clubs to go beyond 50-over World Cup achievements as they prepare for IPL 2024 auction.

The IPL 2024 Auction is all set to commence at Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. Ahead of the much-anticipated event, former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar relays a piece of important advice to the bidders as 10 franchises fight to make the best squad for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.

Manjrekar believes that the IPL is an unparalleled and one-of-a-kind event. With many thinking that a large part of the tournament’s success is determined at the auction, Manjrekar emphasizes that building a winning squad requires experience and a bit of ‘luck.’ Additionally, he advised franchises to consider factors beyond the performances in the recently concluded ’50 overs’ World Cup.

IPL is a unique beast. And it needs a trained eye & some luck to pick the winning horse.” Manjrekar wrote on X( formerly Twitter) ahead of IPL 2024 Auction.

Teams that don’t give too much credence to the recent ‘50 overs’ WC performances have a better shot at that.” he added.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction is all set for Tuesday at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. There will be 333 players under the hammer with only 77 slots available including 30 overseas slots.
