The Indian pacers showcased exceptional skills as they exploited the conditions well, preventing the Proteas batters from settling in.

In a delightful and candid conversation on BCCI TV, Indian pacers Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan revealed an unusual secret to their fiery bowling spells in the recent ODI against South Africa – a special photoshoot ahead of the match. The duo, who were in a jovial mood during the interview, credited their impressive performance to the unique pre-match ritual.

Both Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan credited ‘special photoshoot’ between them for their performance in opening IND vs SA ODI. The duo claimed 9 wickets between them.

Avesh Khan, speaking with a smile, highlighted the camaraderie with Arshdeep and mentioned, “It was good to see two brothers who do everything together, also getting wickets.”

Avesh continued, “When I was not playing T20Is, I was practising for ODI cricket, and was bowling 8-10 overs continuously.”

Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan: Lethal pace duo

In the conversation with reporters, Arshdeep Singh recalled a dinner chat with teammates Avesh Khan and Axar Patel on the eve of the series opener against South Africa. Arshdeep’s remarkable five-wicket haul and Avesh Khan’s impactful 4-wicket spell played a pivotal role in dismantling the star-studded South Africa lineup, restricting them to just 116 runs.

The Indian pacers showcased exceptional skills as they exploited the conditions well, preventing the Proteas batters from settling in. Despite South Africa’s reputation for scoring big runs in their special pink jerseys, the Indian bowlers proved to be too good on the day.

Arshdeep Singh, who had a slow start to his ODI career, showcased his potential with a five-wicket haul, demonstrating his ability to be an asset in the ODIs. Avesh Khan, on the other hand, played his role to perfection with figures of 4/27, utilizing the two-paced Johannesburg wicket effectively.

With Arshdeep setting the platform, Avesh Khan’s hard lengths in the middle overs added a new dimension to India’s pace attack. The duo’s outstanding performance contributed to India’s convincing eight-wicket victory in the first ODI of the series.

As India goes 1-0 up in the three-match series, the special photoshoot before the match stands out as a fun and unexpected factor that seemingly fueled the exceptional bowling spells of Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan.
