Former Indian pacer and commentator Irfan Pathan praised Avesh Khan for making a comeback in the international arena. Avesh picked up his maiden four-wicket haul in the IND vs SA 1st ODI as the home side was rattled with his sheer pace and accuracy.
“Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan impressed me the most. I am happy for Avesh as he had disappeared from the international circuit. But the way he made a comeback it’s impressive,” said Irfan Pathan in a conversation with Star Sports.
Avesh who bowled in tandem with Arshdeep Singh, took four wickets. Meanwhile, Arshdeep completed his maiden five-wicket haul in the format. Speaking more on Avesh, the right-arm pacer dismissed the likes of Aiden Markram, Wiaan Mulder, David Miller and Keshav Maharaj in his spell. He bowled just 8 overs in the IND vs SA 1st ODI giving away just 27 runs and scalping four wickets.
Avesh achieves this record
Avesh has now become the ninth Indian pacer to take more than three wickets in an ODI in South Africa. His compatriot Arshdeep also joined this list. Avesh now has the joint third-best ODI figures by an Indian pacer in SA, with Ajit Agarkar. The right-arm pacer will look to continue his good form in the IND vs SA 2nd ODI as well.
