‘The biggest positive…’Harmanpreet Kaur highlights crucial factor that helped India thump England

India Women's Cricket Team skipper highlights fielding as biggest positive after Indian Eves thumped England in one-off Test

The India Women’s Cricket Team absolutely dominated the England Women’s Cricket Team to record a win a massive win by 347 runs. While credit goes to the batting and the bowling departments for doing their jobs, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur believes that fielding was key. She asserted that the Indian fielding was the biggest positive for the Indian Eves to etch out a memorable win in the one-off Test match.

“We made the runs we wanted to make and the bowlers backed us in every department. They knew their plans. The biggest positive for our team is our fielding. When you’re fielding for 90-odd overs, it is important to maintain energy and we did that. The fielding set the tone and everything else fell into place,” said Harmanpreet Kaur after the match.

She further went on to reveal that the unorthodox field positions helped India save a lot of runs. This in turn put England under a lot of pressure which the visitors couldn’t handle and ultimately crumbled. Kaur even credited head coach Amol Mazumdar’s experienced that was crucial for the team.

“We worked out our field placements according to balls that might work against certain batters. We get that sense from when we bat. And credit to our bowlers because they adapted to the fields we were setting and going according to the plans laid out. His (Amol Muzumdar) experience really helped us.”

Batting first in the game, the India Women’s side amassed 428 runs courtesy of exceptional batting from the Indian middle order, England in their first innings were bowled out for 136 runs as ace spinner Deepti Sharma scalped a stunning fifer. In the second innings, India managed 186/6 before declaring. The visitors crumbled yet again and were bundled out on 131 with Sharma starring with the ball again, this time picking up a four-fer
