Marnus Labuschagne injury scare! Aussie Batter undergoes scans after hurting finger

Marnus Labuschagne sustained the injury from a rising delivery of newcomer Khurram Shahzad during the sixth over of Australia's second innings

Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne suffered a finger injury on third day of PAK vs AUS first Test in Perth. The injury might be cause of worry for Australia who are just starting their series against Pakistan. Labuschagne was sent for some scans after the nasty blow to his little finger.

Labuschagne sustained the injury from a rising delivery of newcomer Khurram Shahzad during the sixth over of Australia’s second innings. The batter received treatment immediately and carried on batting, but not for long.

Shahzad got the better of Labuschagne couple of overs later. Labuschagne top-edged a pull shot and was caught behind the stumps by wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed. He remained in the pavilion as he was treated for a minor leg injury.

Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood provided an update of Labuschagne to reporters after the day’s play.

He was with the doc and physio for the last hour just chatting through it and doing a few tests on the finger…dare say he might be pretty sore,” he said.

“It didn’t look pretty,” Usman Khawaja had told Fox Cricket earlier.

Marnus is a pretty tough character. When he takes his glove and starts to do that I get a bit worried, because he’s a pretty tough guy,” Khawaja added.

Labuschagne’s injury could provide a chance to all-rounder Cameron Green who had been waiting for a chance in Tests. Australia play Pakistan on Boxing Day next.
