Deep Dasgupta reveals why ‘Kul-Cha’ will not feature together in IND vs SA ODIs

Deep Dasgupta said that including Kuldeep and Chahal together in Playing XI for IND vs SA ODIs would not be possible due to absence of Hardik Pandya.

Former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta has opined that “it would be difficult” to see spinner Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal playing together in IND vs SA ODIs.

While talking on Star Sports, Deep Dasgupta said that including Kuldeep and Chahal together in Playing XI would be difficult due to absence of Hardik Pandya.

“I have said this before, till there is no Hardik Pandya or a seam all-rounder, seeing ‘Kul-Cha’ together would be difficult”, Deep Dasgupta said on Star Sports

Notably, there was a time when the combination of Kuldeep and Chahal, popularly known by the ‘Kul-Cha’ term dominated the limited overs format. However, post 2019, both spinners went in and out of Indian team and hardly featured together.

The last time ‘Kul-Cha’ played together was in January this year in the third ODI against New Zealand.

Earlier, Yuzvendra Chahal had revealed the reason behind him and Kuldeep not featuring together frequently.

“When Kuldeep Yadav and I used to play, Hardik Pandya was also there and he would bowl. In 2018 Hardik Pandya got injured and Ravindra Jadeja made a comeback (in white-ball cricket) as an all-rounder, the one who could also bat at number 7. Unfortunately, he is a spinner, we could have played together if he was a medium pacer. It was the demand of the team,” Chahal told Sports Tak in an interview in 2021.

Team India will begin their 3-match ODI series against South Africa on December 17 in Johannesburg.
