After she scored a crucial fifty in the 1st inning of the IND vs ENG Women’s Test, Deepti Sharma produced a once-in-a-lifetime spell to restrict England to just 136. By the time the off-spinner came in to bowl, England were well within the game. Standing at 108-3 after 25 years, Danielle Wyatt and Nat Sciver-Brunt were folding the fort.
However, Deepti Sharma’s guile and wizardry proved to be too good for Heather Knight and Co. The offie started her spell with the second-ball wicket of Wyatt. Then, in her third over, she sent Amy Jones and Sophie Ecclestone back to the pavillion.
The all-rounder wasn’t satisfied yet. She came back and struck Kate Cross’ wicket in her 5th over, and then ended England’s innings by castling Lauren Filer.
Deepti Sharma ended her first Test in India with the figures: 5.3-4-7-5-1.27, reducing England from 108-3 to 136 all-out.
