Pakistan’s Aamir Jamal runs riot on debut with 6-wicket haul in 1st PAK vs AUS Test

Debutant Aamir Jamal became the sixth Pakistan bowler to take a five-wicket haul on debut in the 1st PAK vs AUS Test in Perth

Pakistan pacer Aamir Jamal had a dream Test debut as he finished his first innings with a five-wicket haul in the 1st PAK vs AUS Test. The fiery pacer was the standout among the Shan Masood-led bowling line-up, finishing his spell with figures of 6/111. Australia were bowled out for 487 runs shortly after lunch on Day 2 in Perth.

Travis Head was Aamir Jamal’s first victim as the pacer got rid of him for 40 runs. The mighty David Warner was next, who looked to be in sublime form having smashed a blistering ton. What followed was Jamal wreaking havoc on Australia’s tailenders, finishing the game shortly after lunch.

Resuming their innings on Day 2, Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey continued to build a strong partnership that lasted over 50 runs. However, Pakistan quickly found a couple of breakthroughs, leaving Marsh to fight alone till lunch. Shortly after play commenced after lunch, Jamal swooped down on the remainder of the Australian tailenders, wrapping up the innings.

PAK vs AUS 1st Test Day 1

Australia were in the driver’s seat after Day 1 with 346/5 on board in Perth. It was David Warner who led the charge with an epic 164. Usman Khawaja (40) and Travis Head (41) also contributed to the scoreline. Jamal bagged two wickets for Pakistan but that’s about it for the visitors on Day 1 of the Perth Test. At Day 1 stumps, Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey remained unbeaten on 15 and 14 respectively.
