As people say, history repeats itself, and so it has for Harmanpreet Kaur. The Indian skipper has been dismissed in a bizarre manner once again in the IND vs ENG Women Test. But was she unlucky or too lazy? The Indian skipper ran herself out after her bat got stuck just outside the crease. With the India women’s cricket team well ahead of the match, Harmanpreet committed a mistake that fans labelled as a ‘rookie’ mistake.
Notably, this is the second instance where Harmanpreet was at the centre of bizarre run-out.
Earlier this year, the Indian skipper was dismissed in similar manner. India was closing in on a victory against Australia in the T20 World Cup 2023 semifinal when Harmanpreet Kaur’s attempt to sneak a second run led to a run-out as her bat got stuck outside the crease. The wicket proved to be a game changer as India went on to lose the game.
Prior to Harmapreet Kaur’s dismissal, India were ahead in the game. Having lost both of their openers in the first ten overs, Jemimah Rodrigues and Satheesh Shubha saved India from a collapse.
The duo stroked their twin fifties and helped India to 190-4. Later, Harmanpreet and Yastika Bhatia took control. The stylish left-hander departed for 66, while Harmanpreet failed to reach the 50-run mark.
