In a trademark celebration, David Warner jumped in the air with his fists up and as he touched the ground, his index finger went to his lips, gesturing, “silent”. Why would he want to silence someone after his grand 26th Test century in AUS vs PAK 1st Test? It is for Mitchell Johnson. The former Aussie pacer in his column criticised Cricket Australia for giving Warner a way out after the sandpapergate scandal. But Warner has hit back.
At tea when the host broadcaster got David Warner on the mic, he took jibe at Mitchell Johnson, saying “there is no better way to silence critics”.
“It does feel great, it’s about putting runs on the board for the bowlers. No better way to silence the critics than by putting runs on the board,” David Warner said.
The Australian opener went on to score 164 in the PAK vs AUS 1st Test to put the hosts in a firm position.
“It’s my job to come here and score runs. It was good to get a couple of partnerships, first with Uzzie (Usman Khawaja) and then with Smudge (Steve Smith),” David Warner added.
