Shami tipped to win Arjuna award? BCCI makes special recommendation to include Mohammed Shami in 2023 Arjuna awards name

The India Cricket Team will be eyeing redemption in the IND vs SA 3rd T20I. The Men in Blue are already 1-0 down in the series and will be keen to restore parity to the series.

As per reports from the ANI, The BCCI has made a special request to include Shami’s name in the list. In the original list, Shami’s name was not up for nomination. However, after bagging the most wickets in the recently concluded ODI World Cup, the apex Cricket Body of the country made a request to include the name of the veteran pacer.

Mohammed Shami spoke with the ball as he went on to wreak havoc in the recently concluded ODI World Cup. After warming the bench for the opening four matches, he roared back in form when he got his chance to play for the Men in Blue.

Taking no prisoners, Shami unleashed his fury as he powered India to reach the finals of the World Cup in emphatic fashion. He bagged 24 wickets from just 7 games and bagged the title as the highest wicket-taker of the tournament.

Courtesy of his antics in the World Cup, the BCCI has thus put forward his name as a leading competitor for the Arjuna Awards 2023.
