India’s new designated finisher, Rinku Singh, was in fine touch, hitting his maiden fifty and saving Team India from blushes. The southpaw walked in after India lost their third wicket by the end of the power play. However, it seemed like it wasn’t Rinku’s day.
Starting on, the batter looked out of touch, missing several shots, and was even adjudged out. It seemed like that moment in the game – woke him up. From there on, Rinku Singh put on a masterclass and even broke the window of the commentary box during his splendid 68* knock.
Rinku has now apologised for the broken glass, claiming he didn’t know at the time what he had done. Talking with bcci.tv after the match, the batter said, “I didn’t know my hit broke the glass. I’m sorry for that.”.

Sunil Gavaskar praises Rinku Singh after his maiden fifty
Sunil Gavaskar, in an interview with Star Sports, emphasized that Rinku Singh is evolving with each opportunity he gets to play. The Indian legend highlighted Rinku’s diverse shot selection, expressing confidence that the explosive left-hander would gain significant confidence from this breakthrough knock.
“He’s got all the shots in the book. He can hit you off the front foot. He can hit you off the back foot, as you see over there, with the lofted shot. He’s got all the shots in the book on the offside and on the leg side. Well, once he gets going, it’s hard to keep him quiet, so it will do his confidence a lot of good to get that first half-century,” remarked Gavaskar.
