Team India’s explosive batter Rinku Singh smashed the glass of the media box with a gigantic six during IND vs SA 2nd T20I at St George’s Park in Gqeberha on Tuesday, December 12. The standout moment came when Rinku unleashed two powerful sixes off South Africa’s captain Aiden Markram, with one of them smashing through the glass of the press box.
The incident happened in the 19th over, Rinku took on Markram and stepped down the track to send the ball straight down the ground towards the media box, located behind the sight screen, ultimately shattering the window glass.
Rinku scored an unbeaten 68 off 39 deliveries before rain intervened and halted the game when India were 180/7 in 19.3 overs.
The game resumed after a brief delay and South Africa were given a revised target of 152 in 15 overs. Proteas opener Reeza Hendricks then unleashed himself and punished the Indian bowlers from ball one.
Hendricks scored a 27-ball 49 before getting dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav. South African skipper Aiden Markram also played a quickfire 17-ball 30 to set up the chase. The hosts lost few quick wickets in the end but Tristian Stubbs guided the team home with one over to spare.
With a win in 2nd T20I, the hosts have taken an unassailable 1-0 lead in the 3-match T20I series. The teams will now travel to Johannesberg for the series decider on December 14.
