‘MS Dhoni is irritated by…’: Ex-CSK star reveals what ticks off Captain Cool

Matthew Hayden, who was a part of MS Dhoni-led CSK, played for the franchise for two IPL editions – 2008 to 2010

Former CSK star Matthew Hayden spilled the beans on what irritated Captain Cool MS Dhoni and the answer is something which all fans are familiar with. The explosive opener was a part of the Chennai Super Kings from 2008 to 2010, and was one of the leading run-getters for the Men in Yellove. In a candid conversation with ESPNCricinfo, Hayden answered multiple questions related to MS Dhoni, the IPL and more.

Hayden reveals what ticks off MS Dhoni

Hayden revealed that slack fielding irritated MS Dhoni the most on-field. Fans have witnessed several instances where MSD has lost his cool on his fielders for doing a sloppy job. Captain Cool’s epic heated conversations with the fielders, constant chirping of instructions to the fielders via the stump mic are something fans will always associate with the CSK skipper.

MS Dhoni is pretty unflappable it must be said but if you really wanna give him the shivers. Just have a slack fielding effort. Don’t contribute in the field and that’s one of the few times you would look at him and go ‘ooh that’s not gonna be good‘,” Hayden said.

Hayden further revealed that he was asked by Dhoni to not use the ‘mongoose bat’ in the IPL. Despite the advice, the former Aussie batsman used the special willow to showcase his power-packed batting prowess in the tournament, having achieved good scores.

The ex-CSK opener, when asked who would win a 100m sprint between Mike Hussey and Dhoni, backed his fellow Australian to pip the Indian. He also went on to name Harbhajan Singh as the most ‘entertaining sledger’.
