End of T20 World Cup hopes for Sanju Samson? Only IPL 2024 can save Kerala star

Sanju Samson’s hopes for T20 World Cup squad in major doubts, Big IPL 2024 stint can save Rajasthan Royals skipper

Sanju Samson has returned to the India Cricket Team. But only in the India vs South Africa (IND vs SA) ODI series. But the Rajasthan Royals skipper has only been selected in the ODI squad thereby raising questions about his chances in the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup. But his hope of making it to the squad is not over, a great IPL 2024 can work wonders for the Kerala star.

After back-to-back snubs and exile from the India Cricket Team, Sanju Samson finally gets his chance under the sun. He last featured for the Men in Blue in ODIs in August when India toured West Indies. Despite scoring a fifty on his last game he was just a traveling reserve for the Asia Cup. He was then snubbed for the ODI World Cup squad and then the IND vs AUS T20I series.

With the BCCI Selection Committee continuing to overlook Samson in the shortest format of the game, it raises questions about his career in the shortest format of the game. India will now have a limited focus in ODIs given that the World Cup has just concluded. With the focus shifting to the T20 World Cup and just 8 games remaining before the mega tournament, it is not good news for the Kerala star.

But Samson has now been picked for the ODI squad in the India Tour of South Africa series. The next job for Sanju Samson will be put in a steller performance in IPL 2024 for his side Rajasthan Royals which can thereby propel his case and create a spot for him in the India Squad for T20 World Cup.

India’s squad for 3 ODIs: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sai Sudharsan, Tilak Varma, Rajat Patidar, Rinku Singh, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (C)(wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mukesh Kumar, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Deepak Chahar.
