The IPL 2024 auction is a couple of weeks away, and franchises and players are gearing up for the big day. Veterans of the game like Mohammad Nabi, Moises Henriques, and Colin Munro have also thrown their names into the auction hat. While several players are 35 or older, they are nowhere near the oldest players who have made it to the auction. So, let’s find out who the oldest players bought at the IPL auction are:

Oldest players bought at the IPL auction
- Pravin Tambe: Having made his IPL debut at the age of 41, the leg-spinner did well until 2016. Then, four years after not playing despite being bought, Tambe was picked up by the Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹ 20 lakh at the 2020 IPL auction. However, Tambe was later disqualified from participating in the T10 league in 2018.
- Brad Hogg: Having retired from international cricket in 2008, Hogg had a career revival as he returned to franchise cricket. The chinaman was picked by the Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹ 50 lakh at the 2015 IPL auction. Hogg went on to play for two more years, picking up 13 wickets in 11 matches.
- Amit Mishra: After going unsold in 2022, the leg spinner was picked up by the Lucknow Super Giants for ₹ 50 lakh at the 2023 auction. Playing 7 matches in the 2023 edition, Mishra did well and was retained for the IPL 2024 season by LSG.
