Mitchell Marsh has finally opened up about his controversial picture of posing with the World Cup Trophy under his feet. Marsh faced a lot of flak, especially from the Indian fans as well as some of the Indian cricketers for disrespecting the trophy. However, the all-rounder said he did not mean to hurt anyone by his actions.
“There was obviously no disrespect meant in that photo at all. I haven’t given it too much thought, I haven’t seen a lot on social media even though everyone tells me it’s gone off. There’s nothing in that,” Marsh was quoted as saying to SEN.
Rather than appreciating Australia’s performance on the November 19th finale clash against India, Marsh was trending on Twitter the next day, celebrating the team’s sixth World Cup by chilling on the sofa with feet up on the Trophy. Mohammed Shami also went on to speak on the viral picture.

“This hurt me a lot as well. All countries fight for this trophy, everyone wants to lift the trophy over their head. And I didn’t like that he rested his foot on that trophy. He should not be doing that,” said Shami during an interaction with media persons.
Mitchell Marsh enjoying off
Speaking about Marsh, he is currently enjoying a much-needed break. Australia’s T20 skipper skipped the ongoing T20 series against India and is currently chilling with family and friends back home.
The all-rounder spoke about the crazy scheduling of the series, which did not allow some of the Aussie team members to celebrate the World Cup triumph together.
