‘Coolie No 1’ Shaheen Afridi reveals why Pakistan ‘family’ decided to load their own luggage

Shaheen Afridi revealed why the Pakistan team decided to load their own luggage as the team arrived in Australia

A day after videos of Pakistan players loading their luggage into a vehicle all by themselves, the side’s new T20 skipper Shaheen Afridi opened up on the incident. As Shaheen Afridi and co arrived at Australia, no official from the Pakistan embassy or Cricket Australia were at the airport to receieve the visiting team. In what was a tremendous dislplay of sportsmanship and team work, the Pakistan team members themselves got on to loading their luggage, instead of just waiting endlessly.

In a video posted by Pakistan Cricket Board on X, Shaheen Afridi touched upon the incident and revealed why Pakistan players decided to do so. Afridi revealed that the team had only 30 minutes to catch their next flight and that they helped because there were only 2 people. Calling the team a ‘family’, the new skipper said that they helped them as a family.

We only had 30 minutes to catch our next flight and we helped because there were just two people. We wanted to wrap it up fast and to save time. We call this team a family and helped them as a family“, Shaheen Afridi said.

Pakistan team spirit unleashed!

The 18-man squad, along with the 17-member management, arrived in Australia for a crucial three-match Test series as part of the ICC World Test Championship.

The journey commenced from Lahore airport, with a brief stop in Dubai, where players had a short rest before their flight to Sydney. However, upon reaching their destination, the absence of officials from the Pakistan Embassy or Cricket Australia prompted the team members to handle their luggage themselves, showcasing a remarkable display of team spirit and camaraderie.

In the video, the senior player of the Pakistan Cricket Team, Mohammad Rizwan was seen actively assisting his teammates in loading kit bags, creating a unique and unexpected scene at the airport. Despite the challenges, Rizwan also took time to oblige fans with selfies, adding a touch of warmth to the unscripted moment.
