Naseem Shah to begin new life at Islamabad United after PSL 2024 Trade

Naseem Shah has been playing for Quetta Gladiators in Pakistan Super League (PSL) since 2019. However, he has now switched to Islamabad United.

After failing to participate in the recently concluded World Cup in India, Naseem Shah has his eyes on the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2024). Naseem Shah had suffered an injury during the last Asia Cup and was ruled out of the WC. However, the express pacer is eying a new beginning after return from injury. And it’s his new franchise that will mark a new start. Shah switched from Quetta Gladiators to Islamabad United on Saturday).

Naseem Shah has been playing for Quetta Gladiators since his inaugural season in the tournament in 2019. However, the right-arm pacer has now made a switch. In exchange, Mohd Wasim Jr and Abrar Ahmed will move to Quetta Gladiators.

Naseem doubtful for PSL 2024?

However, despite the trade, Naseem Shah is still doubtful for PSL 2024 The right-arm pacer sustained a shoulder injury during the 2023 Asia Cup, causing him to miss the World Cup. He is still recovering and as a result, has not been named in Pakistan’s squad for the Test series against Australia.

Newly appointed chief selector Wahab Riaz issued a positive update regarding the pacer, but it is still unclear when he will return to action.

“Naseem Shah will hopefully be able to bowl at 50-60% after three weeks,” Riaz said.

As per reports, Naseem is in the UK and is set to miss the tour of New Zealand as well to kickstart 2024.

Speaking more on Quetta Gladiators. The franchise enjoyed their run during the early phase of the PSL. In the first four PSL editions, Quetta Gladiators reached three finals and won the title in 2019 but have been struggling in recent years. In the last four seasons, they have missed out on the playoffs in each season. As a result, Naseem has yet to play in the playoffs despite playing in the competition since 2020.
