Chennai Super Kings players of the present and past were been left worried by Cyclone Michaung that has wreaked havoc in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. CSK players Ruturaj Gaikwad and Maheesh Theekshana, and ex-CSK veteran Ravichandran Ashwin all took to social media on Monday to express concerns on the effect cyclone Michaung is having on the city of Chennai.
Theekshana spares thought for ‘second home’
Theekshana on Monday shared a video footage of Chennai getting flooded due to the heavy downpour. In the video, cars can be seen floating and flowing through the flooded streets of Chennai. The video also contains footage of the Chennai airport where a flight can be seen standing on the runway with its tyres being submerged in the water.
Theekshana shared the footage with a caption where he claimed Chennai to be his ‘second home’. “Just watched some concerning footage from my second home, Chennai. Sending all my love and prayers to everyone affected. Stay strong, stay safe. We’re in this together,” the spinner wrote along with the video.
Ex-CSK player Ravichandran Ashwin also shared a video of a road in Chennai. A part of the road seem to have given way and created a huge crater. He shared the video with the caption, “Hang tight for another day everyone. Even if the rain stops, recovery is going to take a while.”
Ruturaj Gaikwad, another CSK player also shared an Insta story, urging the people of Chennai to stay indoors amid the heavy downpour.
Seven people died and another was injured in several rain-related incidents in Chennai on Monday after heavy rainfall and strong winds in the city due to the cyclonic storm. Chennai airport’s runway was flooded and flights were canceled and diverted due to heavy rain caused by the cyclonic storm, which the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said intensified on Monday. The airport’s flights have been suspended until 11 pm. Arrivals at Chennai airport were suspended from 9:17 am to 11:30 am on Monday.
