New Zealand spinners wreaked havoc on the 1st session of Day 1 of the 2nd BAN vs NZ Test in Dhaka, with the home side faltering

New Zealand spinners wreaked havoc as the Bangladesh top-order faltered in the 2nd Test of BAN vs NZ series. In what is a tremendous comeback after the drubbing in the 1st Test, Kiwi spinners Ajaz Patel and Mitchel Santner took two wickets each within the first session of the 1st innings. Bangladesh lost their first four batsmen within 50 runs.

BAN vs NZ 2nd Test: Spinners wreak havoc in 2nd Test

Winning the toss, BAN opted to bat in the 2nd Test at Dhaka. Zakir Hasan was the first to be dismissed by Santner in the 10th over as he was caught out by Williamson. His fellow opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy was the next to depart as Ajaz Patel struck. Mominul Haque was dismissed a few overs later by Santner shortly after which skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto was trapped for a LBW by Ajaz Patel.

At the time of publishing this story, Bangladesh werwe 80-4 in 28 overs. Mushfiqur Rahim and Shahadat Hossain were at the crease, trying to stabilise the innings after the loss of the top-order batsmen for a cheap score.

Bangladesh create history!

Bangladesh defied all odds and beat New Zealand by 150 runs in the first Test in Sylhet. Entering the fifth day, Bangladesh required only three wickets to wrap up the Test. It did not take a lot of time for the hosts to dismiss the three Kiwi batters and record a thumping win. With one more Test match to go, the hosts have ensured themselves of a series draw, or a series win.

2nd Test Pitch report

The Dhaka pitch is generally spinner-friendly, and the pitch for the second Test is expected to behave no differently. The cloudy conditions would definitely help the bowlers, as batters would find it difficult.
