Out of favour Tamim Iqbal set for commentary stint in BAN vs NZ 2nd Test

However, Tamim is not a stranger to the commentary booth, having taken a similar responsibility in BPL 2022

Tamim Iqbal will make a comeback on the field for his Bangladesh Premier League side next year. However before that, the former Bangladesh opener will begin a new career with the microphone. Tamil Iqbal on Tuesday announced he will be making his debut as a commentator in international cricket in the BAN vs NZ second Test.

However, Tamim is not a stranger to the commentary booth. He was a commentator for the 2022 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) after his team, the Dhaka Minister, was eliminated before the playoff stage.

On Tuesday, Tamim took to social media to announce his entry into commentary. “Will be a small part of the commentary panel on First Day of 2nd Test between Bangladesh and New Zealand tomorrow. My first in an international game! My slots: 12:40pm to 01:10pm and 01:40pm to 02:10pm Looking forward to the combox experience again,” he wrote on Facebook along with a picture of him commentating in a BPL game.

Insidesport

This foray into commentary marks a turning point in Tamim’s life, which has been full of twists and turns in recent months. He retired from international cricket, then broke his retirement to make a comeback. He then stepped down from captaincy, followed by his exclusion from the Bangladesh squad for World Cup.

The situation became even worse when Tamim had a run-in with Shakib Al Hassan. Tamim was displeased with being asked to bat at the bottom of the order after spending his entire career as an opener. On national television, Shakib called Tamim ‘childish’ for not being willing to adjust to the team’s requirements.
