There seems to be no end to the crisis that Chennai is facing during Cyclone Michaung, for the last couple of days. The city is quite literally submerged in water in most parts, and there doesn’t seem to be relief coming any time soon. Many areas have faced power outages for more than a day, and India cricketer R Ashwin is no different.
The all-rounder is caught in the Chennai flood due to Cyclone Michaung and has been without electricity for the last 30 hours. He took to X to provide an update. He wrote, “No power in my locality for more than 30 hours too. Guess that’s the case in many places. Not sure what options we have.”
Ashwin’s tweet was in response to another tweet by a Chennai resident, who complained of no electricity for over 30 hours as well. Meanwhile, as per a report in the Hindu, the death toll due to Michaung rose to seven, while over 61,600 people were moved to relief camps. The NDRF has deployed 29 teams to Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Puducherry to undertake relief and rescue operations.
