Hardik Pandya’s transfer trade has created quite a captaincy stir in Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2024 mini-auction. While common logic suggests Rohit Sharma or Pandya to be skipper for at least till next season, former India player Ajay Jadeja has made a wild prediction, and opinions Suryakumar Yadav should lead MI in IPL 2024 season.
Jadeja also stated that Rohit Sharam should not play the full IPL season and be fit and fresh for the T20 World Cup, which starts on June 04, 2024.
“Suryakumar Yadav can be the MI captain if Rohit Sharma decides to take a break during IPL 2024 season,” Jadeja said to Sports Tak.
Taking a cue from BBL, Jadeja feels that Indian stars should also take rest during IPL at some point in time to remain fit and fresh for ICC tournaments. A lot of foreign players like Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, & and Ben Stokes have opted out of IPL seasons due to being fit for national commitments. However, in India hardly any players take rest during the IPL season.
Currently, India skipper Rohit Sharma is on an indefinite break from white-ball formats. It is still not clear whether the right-hand batter will lead India in the T20 World Cup next year. Also, there is no official word yet on him being the captain for MI in the IPL 2024 season.
