Australia’s Matthew Renshaw did something that is very rare to see on the field in the warm-up game ahead of AUS vs PAK Test series. The number three batter reached his half-century by scoring seven off just a single delivery! Yes, you read that right, 7 runs off 1 ball.
PAK vs PMXI: Renshaw reaches 50 with 7 runs off 1 ball!
At the end of the 77th over, Renshaw drove a delivery off Abrar Ahmed which went racing to the boundary. Pakistan’s Mir Hamza made the save and threw the ball back towards the keeper’s end. However, Babar Azam, who was stationed near the batter’s crease, made a costly mistake as he received the delivery and went to to throw it to the bowler’s end.
The comedy of errors began at this moment. Babar’s throw ensured that the ball reached the other side of the field, way past the boundary line. Ultimately, an overthrow ensured that Renshaw got seven runs of one delivery – having run three runs and a four from the overthrow.
PMXI trail by 163 runs at lunch on Day 3 vs PAK
In the game, Matthew Renshaw remained not out at 62 as PMXI trailed Pakistan by 163 runs. Opening the innings for PMXI, Marcus Harris and Cameron Bancroft got the side off to a good start. Bancroft was trapped by Shahzad for an LBW and had to go after scoring 53 runs. Harris missed out on his half-century by a run as he was dismissed by Abrar Ahmed.
Cameron Green attempted to create a strong partnership with Renshaw but was dismissed for 46 runs. Pakistan earlier declared their first innings after putting 391 runs on board for the loss of nine wickets. Pakistan is all set to take on Australia in a three-match Test series after the conclusion of this warm-up game on December 9.
Pakistan vs PMXI, Day 2
After scoring 391/9, PAK had PMXI at 149/2 at the end of the day’s play. Skipper Shan Masood was the star with the bat for Pakistan as he was unbeaten on 201. Otherwise, no other batsman from their team even reached a fifty. Jordan Buckingham was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts, who picked up five wickets for 80 runs.
