Harshal Patel might have a new destination in IPL 2024. The speedster who was released by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on IPL 2024 Retention Day can be a new addition for MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has opined that Harshal Patel can be a good addition for the Yellow Army given how CSK has suffered with long injury stints with their fast bowlers.
“They have a lot of fast bowlers who can get injured regularly, guys like Deepak Chahar. They keep a lot of faith in Deepak Chahar but if he is not fit and available, they can be in a mess,” Irfan Pathan told Star Sports.
CSK boasts of having a big budget of ₹31.40 crore after having released 8 players. On the other hand, CSK needs to fill 6 spots. As for Harshal Patel, the ace pacer who bagged the IPL Purple Cap back in 2021. Playing currently in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Haryana he has shown some decent form.
So far in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Harshal Patel has played 7 matches where he has managed to scalp a total of 15 wickets.
“So what they need – maybe a guy like Harshal Patel. Bangalore is not far from there, so just get Harshal Patel with a small ride of five hours, and just get him in CSK,” Pathan concluded.
