Disciplined England thump Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. to Seal the IND W vs ENG W T20 series

Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. were bowled out for their third lowest total in T20 history in the 2nd IND W vs ENG W T20 played on Saturday.

In another one-sided affair, England thumped India in the second IND W vs ENG W 2nd T20 played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. also registered their third lowest total in T20 history. Meanwhile, it was also their second lowest total while playing in home conditions.

England skipper Heather Knight won the toss and opted to have a bowl first. IND W had a shaky start as the star from the last match Shafali Verma was scalped for a second-ball duck. Smriti Mandhana had another poor outing as she could only score 10 runs. While Jemimah Rodrigues (30 runs) was the highest run-getter for IND W, none of the other Indian batters managed to reach the double figure mark. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was scalped for just nine runs with two fours to her name.

For ENG W, Charlie Dean was excellent with the ball as she got two wickets. Lauren Bell, Sophie Ecclestone and Sarah Glenn also scalped two wickets. On the other hand, Freya Kemp and Nat-Sciver Brunt also got one wicket to their name.

Chasing a modest total of 81 runs, England did suffered some blows as pacer Renuka Thakur was impressive yet again. The pacer was excellent with the new ball as she removed both openers including Danielle Wyatt (0 runs) and Sophia Dunkley (9 runs). Alice Capsey (25 runs) came to the crease and played some shots before she was scalped by Saika Ishaque. Just like Capsey, Brunt also looked positive with the bat but was removed by Pooja Vastrakar for 16 runs.

Spinner Deepti Sharma did manage to take two wickets in two deliveries. However, it did not hurt England Women much as skipper Heather Knight and Sophie Ecclestone completed the formalities as the visitors trumped Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. by four runs to take a lead 2-0 in a three-match T20 series.
