Who will lead India Cricket Team in T20 World Cup 2024? Rohit Sharma or Hardik Pandya? Fans and journalists have raised the question on numerous occasions, especially after India’s heartbreaking loss in the World Cup final. However, BCCI has stayed silent on the subject. BCCI secretary Jay Shah has refused to dive into the speculations. On the sidelines of WPL 2024 Auction in Mumbai, Shah said, there is still time left to decide. Hardik Pandya had led India in Rohit’s absence and with both absent from T20Is, Suryakumar Yadav is leading the side in IND vs SA T20 series.

“What is the need to have clarity right now? T20 World Cup 2024 is starting in June. We have the IPL before that and the series against Afghanistan,” Jay Shah said on the sidelines of WPL 2024 Auction.

With Hardik Pandya suffering yet another long-term injury, it has raised more concerns on whether he is the right candidate. On the other hand, everyone including the BCCI is happy with how Rohit Sharma led India Cricket Team in the World Cup.

The BCCI top brass recently met Rohit Sharma virtually with head coach Rahul Dravid also present apart from chief selector Ajit Agarkar. And an official word only said that both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are on a break from white-ball cricket. Whether they will play in the India vs Afghanistan series in January is still unclear.

With Hardik Pandya also set to make a comeback in IND vs AFG series, it will be interesting to see who leads India in the series.
