BCCI still undecided on WPL 2024 venue, Jay Shah rules out multi-state tournament

Jay Shah rules out multi-city model for WPL 2024, tournament venue still undecided!

The BCCI is still undecided on the venue for the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2024). BCCI secretary Jay Shah has ruled out the multi-state tournament model claiming logistically troubles. Shah has further claimed that the WPL venue is undecided but the tournament will be held in one particular state to have better logistics.

Previously there were reports that the WPL 2024 would be held in different cities of different states, thereby implying the multi-city model. Previously RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana too claimed that she wished for multi-city format games for WPL 2024.

Better Logistics prevail over Multi City Model

“It is decided that we will have the tournament in February. As far as the venue is concerned, it will be held in one state only so that it is better logistically. Logistics are very important for us this time, next time we can figure it out,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah said.

While the venue remains undecided, Jay Shah has confirmed that the tournament will be held in 2024 February. While there are plenty of venue options available for hosting, the final venue remains uncertain. Jay Shah has further claimed that the tournament will be held in one state to avoid logistic nightmare.

“We can do it either in Bangalore or Uttar Pradesh. We have so many venues, even in Gujarat, where we have Ahmedabad, Rajkot and after a few years Baroda can build their own stadium. Basically it is a joint call between the franchises and the BCCI. We will sit together and we will decide. We will let you know. It will be in one state, that is sure,” Shah concluded.
