Ahead of the white ball leg of the India tour of South Africa 2023-24, star in the making Rinku Singh has displayed his simplicity and humility. The southpaw had received his maiden ODI call-up 10 days ago and expressed his gratitude for such an honour. Apart from how he plans to play in South Africa and his number 5 spot, Rinku also revealed how he enjoys off the field.
In a short interview with bcci.tv, the batter shared that he along with 5 of the his teammates often sit together and pull other each other’s leg to let off some steam.
Rinku said, “me, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, Jitesh Sharma, we all enjoy together. It’s very important to enjoy off the field.”
Rinku also added that he enjoys listeing to Bajrang Bali’s songs in his rooms as he’s devout follower of the God.
“Ma toh Bajrang Bali ka bhakt hu, unke ke ganne sunta rehte hu apne room me”, the batter from Uttar Pradesh said.
When Rinku Singh donated 11 lakhs to build a temple
In October, while he was participating in the Asian Games 2023, Rinku donated 11 lakh rupees in fees for temple construction. Coming from humble beginnings, the batter is known for his large-heartedness, helping those who are in need.
Before this, Rinku had also donated 50 lakh rupees to build a cricket academy and hostel for underprivileged players.
“The work started around three months ago, with Rinku watching the progress from close quarters before heading to join his team. The hostel will have 14 rooms, and each one can accommodate four trainees. A shed and a pavilion are also being constructed. Separate toilets are also being constructed. These trainees can have food at the canteen being run at the place. It will cost around Rs 50 lakh, and the whole expenditure is being borne by Rinku,” his childhood coach Masooduz-Zafar Amini added.
