Ex-India opener doubtful about Rohit Sharma, Virat future in T20 World Cup 2024

Ex-India opener doubtful about Rohit Sharma, Virat future in T20 World Cup 2024

An ex-Indian opener casted aspersions on if star Indian players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli would play the T20 World Cup 2024

Former Indian opener Parthiv Patel revealed his first choices for the upcoming T20 World Cup, including many star Indian players. The wicketkeeper-batsman has cast aspersions if Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah would be included as crucial players who would be a part of India’s squad ahead of the T20 series against Afghanistan and SA.

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma have taken a break from the white-ball formats of the game in the series against SA. Pathiv Patel cast aspersions on the participation of Kohli, Sharma and Bumrah in the T20 World Cup 2024 and said that it was something that the Men in Blue needs to take in account.

Rohit Sharma, Kohli to participate in T20 World Cup 2024?

India’s biggest challenge to me has always been finding that right combination, especially in the T20 format. And we don’t have games. Now we are talking about just three Afghanistan games if at all Virat or Rohit or Bumrah play in that. So I think it is something which India will have to take into account“, Parthiv Patel said

Focus on T20 WC after 50-over World Cup disappointment for India

Hardik Pandya, the all-rounder was missed big time for India during the knockout stages of the WC. His absence impacted the team’s balance. India does not want to make the same mistake ahead of T20 WC and have gone on to include as many as four all-rounders for the series against Australia. Tilak Varma, Sundar, Axar Patel, and Shivam Dube – all four players are very capable with bat and ball.

After the T20 series against Australia, India will also play T20 series against South Africa and Afghanistan. But it will be IPL 2024 which decides fate of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. If they continue their best form, they will be in scheme of things for T20 World Cup. But if they fail, things could be difficult for selectors.
