IND vs SA: Rain plays spoilsport as India vs South Africa 1st T20I get called off

IND vs SA: Rain disappointment galore, IND vs SA 1st T20I gets cancelled after incessant drizzle forces match to get called off

IND vs SA LIVE Score: Rain played spoilsport as the IND vs SA 1st T20I has been officially called off. There was a rain prediction and the heavens opened up before the start of the game. The incessant drizzle continued in Durban as the match was abandoned without the Toss taking place.

The India Cricket Team is ready for its next challenge. With six T20I matches left before the T20 World Cup, the Men in Blue should be eager to go full throttle against the Proteas in the IND vs SA 1st T20I. Suryakumar Yadav continues to lead the charge as the usual suspects return to the team after a much-needed rest pot ODI World Cup.

The India Team will face South Africa 3-T20I matches before turning their attention to ODIs and Test matches. But with the T20 World Cup on the horizon, it is important that Men in Blue get their team combinations sorted.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have taken a break from white-ball cricket for the series. Still, the other usual suspects like Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohammed Siraj have returned. It is essential that India plan and finalize its core squad for the World Cup.

IND vs SA 1st T20I – What lies in store?

Team India will be making some key changes in their lineup from what it was in the IND vs AUS Series. Star opener Shubman Gill returns and is likely to partner Yashasvi Jaiswal. Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav will slot in at 3 & 4 respectively. Rinku Singh leads the race for the designated finisher while Jitesh Sharma is to get a nod ahead of Ishan Kishan.

Down the order, Ravindra Jadeja slots in at his preferred 7 spot. There is a big selection headache regarding Ravi Bishnoi vs Kuldeep Yadav, especially after the former’s exploits against AUS. Mohammed Siraj spearheads the pace attack with Mukesh Kumar and Arshdeep Singh.

Things are a bit different for the Proteas. Temba Bavuma is missing along with the likes of Quinton de Kock, Lungi Ngidi, Marco Jansen, and Kagiso Rabada. Reeza Hendricks and Matthew Breetzke form the opening duo while Aiden Markram leads the charge with Tristan Stubbs to finish the top order.

The deadly duo of Heinrich Klaasen & David Miller form the anchor-finisher combo, while Keshav Maharaj leads the spin department with Tabraiz Shamsi. Gerald Coetzee, Andile Phehlukwayo, and debutant Nandre Burger command the pace attack.
