IND-W vs ENG-W 3rd T20I: Harmanpreet looks for redemption, England aims whitewash

The third T20I will be played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on Sunday at 7 p.m. IST.

After a resounding defeat in the IND-W vs ENG-W second T20I, the India Women’s Cricket Team will look to regroup and aim to avoid a whitewash. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side has been poor, to say the least. After reducing England to 2-2 in the first over of the series opener, they let the advantage slip. However, what followed in the second T20I was even worse. A shoddy performance with the bat saw them restricted to 80, eventually losing with 52 balls to spare.

The visitors, who are under the helm of Heather Knight, will be gunning for a whitewash. Having already broken the spirits of the Indian team, England will look to not give them a glimmer of hope before their solitary Test on December 14.

IND-W vs ENG-W 3rd T20: What to expect?

The Indian batting has mercilessly failed in the first two matches. Only Shafali Verma has scored more than 50 runs, and no batter has a strike rate of over 125.

The bowling hasn’t been much better, either. Apart from Renuka Thakur, no one has consistently taken wickets; Deepti Sharma has been economical but has just 2 wickets to her name. Shreyanka Patil, Saika Ishaque, and Pooja Vastraka have been leaking runs and are among the most expensive among the bowlers who have featured in the series so far.

As far as the English unit goes, there is not much to improve. The only worrying factor is their collapse in the second match, where they won the match by just 4 wickets despite chasing just 81. Their batting, barring Natalie Sciver-Brunt and Danielle Wyatt, has been hit-and-miss. Heather Knight will look to get her team to function like a well-oiled clock before the Test match on December 14.
