The pocked dynamite, Ishan Kishan, has taken the world by storm in his short career. The 3-format cricketer has done well for the India Cricket Team whenever he has gotten the opportunity. On December 10, 2023, Kishan came in with a vengeance on the field. After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, Bangladesh elected their own doom. The southpaw opened the innings, and by the time he got out, the score was 305/2.
In the process of this utter destruction, Kishan became the 7th player to score a double century in ODIs. He also became the 4th Indian to score a 200 after Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Rohit Sharma. However, this wasn’t even the biggest record he got that day. Kishan became the batter to score the fastest 200 in ODIs, a record that remains to this day.
Fastest 200 in ODIs: Ishan Kishan, Sehwag & Gill make the cut
Interestingly, Kishan broke another southpaw’s record to take the record. The Universal Boss had held the record before the Indian opener broke the record by quite some distance (15 balls).
Since he scored his double-century in 2022, two other players have scored them as well. These players (Glenn Maxwell and Shumman Gill) both feature on the list as well, but they are trialing Ishan Kishan.
