India Cricket Team to send massive contingent of 45 players for South Africa tour

BCCI has applied for as many as 45 player visas for the India tour of South Africa. The first batch of the players will depart on December 6.

Team India is likely to send a full-strength squad for the South Africa tour. As per a report from the Indian Express, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already applied for 45 Indian players’ visas for South Africa tour (IND vs SA). Apart from the test series, team India will also participate in the 3-match T20I series followed by the same number of ODIs. The two-match Test series is slated to start from December 26 onwards.

First batch of players to depart on Dec 6

At present several Indian players who are a part of the South Africa are at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. As mentioned above, team India will play three T2OIs, three ODIs and two Tests, and the first batch of players will depart from Bengaluru on December 6.

At present, team India is taking on Australia in a five-match T20I series. The BCCI is likely to announce the squad for the South Africa tour after the end of the current fixtures. Meanwhile, team India star batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are likely to skip the white-ball matches in the South Africa tour.

According to Indian Express, both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are currently having a vacation in the United Kingdom (UK). As a result, both senior players are likely to miss the T20 and ODI series during India tour of South Africa. “He (Kohli) has informed the BCCI and selectors that he needs a break from white-ball cricket and he will get back to them about when he wants to play white ball cricket next,” Indian Express quoted a source as saying.
