When people talk about fantasy cricket, the one sentiment that is constantly echoed is, “it’s all luck”. However, just like any other sport, fantasy cricket is more based on the skills, knowledge, and tactics than just a sheer luck. Surely, there will be up and downs in the process but if we can avoid making certain mistakes, the chances of ‘ups’ will be more frequent than the ‘downs’.
So ahead of the IND vs AUS 3rd T20I at Guwahati on Tuesday, 28 November, here are some DONT’s for you so that you can succeed in the field of fantasy cricket.
1. Go with your research, not guts!
Trusting your heart over brain might benefit in making emotional decisions but trust your mind when it comes picking a team! It is important to look at players’ current form, past records at the venue, stats against the opposite team before picking them on your fantasy team.

2. Know your pitch
Cricket is the only sport that is played in different conditions. So, it is very important to study all the conditions before picking your team. If you picked 3 spinners on a spin friendly conditions at Narendra Modi Stadium and continued with the same Fantasy XI at Wankhede Stadium, you are going to finish at the bottom of the winner leaderboard. To avoid such mistakes, always look at the pitch conditions and weather conditions before finalising your fantasy team.
3. Know the rules
It is important to note that every fantasy app have different points system. So, it is crucial to know how the points are allotted in fantasy cricket. How many bonus points are allotted to captains, how many points for bowling a maiden over, etc. Do you know players are rewarded points for just making it to the starting XI? (I didn’t know!). So, go through the rule and points book and select accordingly.
Now that you know the DONT’s, just impliment the DOs and become the ultimate fantasy cricket KING!
