India fell to 24 for 2 in the powerplay, but Ruturaj and skipper Suryakumar Yadav put on a 57-run show. The captain took over and hit 39 out of 29 balls. Suryakumar, on the other hand, soon fell in the very crucial 11th over to Aaron Hardie.

Taking over, Gaikwad propelled India to an enormous total. The Indian batsman hit his fifty in thirty-two balls. In the last overs, Gaikwad paced his form and reached his century in the following 20 balls. In addition, he made history by becoming the first Indian to strike a century in a T20I match against the formidable Australians.

In the past two years, he is the sixth Indian to score a century in T20 cricket. In 20 overs, India scored 222-3 with Gaikwad amassing 123 off 57 balls (not out). In T20I cricket, the Indian batter recorded the second-highest individual score for the team.
