On Phillip Hughes’s ninth death anniversary on November 27, cricketers remembered the former Australian opening batter. Hughes’ teammates David Warner and Steven Smith were the first to pay tribute to their best mate and brother. ‘9 years I miss you bruz 408.’ Smith put a picture alongside Hughes. Warner, who shared a close bond with the southpaw, put a picture of the two by captioning the post, ‘408 miss your brass.’
Apart from Smith and Warner, former Australia captain Michael Clarke and current stand-in-captain Matthew Wade also paid heartfelt tribute to Hughes.
It was nine years ago when the whole cricketing world came to a standstill when Hughes breathed his last on November 27, 2014. The southpaw was hit by a Sean Abbott bouncer on the neck. As soon as the ball hit Hughes’s neck, he fell unconscious, before leaving the cricketing world at the young age of 25.
