Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag handed Alejandro Garnacho a start against Everton on Sunday. The young Argentinian repaid that faith of the gaffer in tremendous fashion within three minutes of starting. Garnacho produced one of the goals of the season, hitting a special overhead kick from just inside the penalty area. The goal handed Red Devils an early lead in the game.

Garnacho has had a staggered start to the 2023-25 season. He has started only four games in the Premier League prior to today’s match. He had played a total of 401 minutes before today, failing to register a single goal until now.

The 19-year-old winger was looking for a moment of confidence to kickstart the season, and it arrived in the third minute of the game in the form of a Diogo Dalot cross.

Dalot received a ball on the right from midfield and put in a cross towards the edge of the box. Garnacho, who was moving towards the six-yard box anticipating a cross to the far post, checked his run and ran backwards. The winger, unmarked attempted an audacious overhead kick and it paid off.

He produced an absolute banger which looped up just enough to beat the Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. The ball dipped at the right time to land into the goal.

The Argentinian ran off to celebrate in front of the Everton supporters. Some Toffee supporters even seemed to applause the strike.
