Ishan Kishan continues to flourish in the shortest format of the game. Back-to-back fifties in the ongoing IND vs AUS T20I series have done him much good. While the southpaw just got 2 matches in the ODI World Cup, he will be raring to secure his place in the India T20 World Cup squad. This in turn however creates a happy headache for the BCCI selection committee.
Talk about making a statement, Ishan Kishan has done that. His fifty proved to be a match-winning innings in the first match and today he slammed a 29-ball fifty to keep in a strong position. However, Kishan’s stay on the crease was much limited after his half-century and he soon departed after scoring 52 runs.

While it was the openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad who set the pace for the game, it was Ishan Kishan who drove the innings in the same gear. After Jaiswal’s dismissal, Ishan Kishan continued to hit a flurry of boundaries and reached his fifty in stunning fashion by slamming the ball out of the park.
Batting with a strike rate of 162.50, Ishan Kishan hammered 3 fours and 4 sixes to disrupt the Men in Yellow. While India looks poised to register a good total on the board, Kishan’s fine form will surely cause a happy headache for the BCCI.
Barring this game, only 9 T20Is are left for the Men in Blue before the T20 World Cup. All the combinations need to be tried and tested within this period. There is however the IPL whose performance will also be accounted for.
But the way Ishan Kishan is batting, it will be impossible to drop the destructive southpaw. This in turn will also be bad news for Sanju Samson. The Rajasthan Royals skipper has been snubbed from the India Team in recent tournaments and with Kishan who is a good wicketkeeper performing at such a high level, can likely shut the door for the Kerala keeper.
