Stand-in Australian captain Matthew Wade is mighty impressed with young Indian brigade after a narrow 2-wicket loss in the IND vs AUS 1st T20. With Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan stitching together a 60-ball 112-run partnership, India registered a highest successful chase of 209 runs with a ball to spare. But the chase would not have been complete without Rinku Singh who finished off the game with an unbeaten 14-ball 22-run knock. And Wade was impressed by his compsure. He credited IPL for his nerves.
“It was a good match in the end. Inglis got us a score we thought we could defend but the Indians came hard at us. These young Indians play a lot of IPL and T20 cricket,” Matthew Wade said at the post-match presentation.
‘Couldn’t nail yorkers’
However, despite Suryakumar Yadav hammering 42-ball 80 and Ishan Kishan (39-ball 58), India had a moment of scare at the death.
With Axar Patel failing to fire and quick wickets at the death, coupled with Nathan Ellis’ excellent 19th over, India were under pressure. In the last over, India lost three wickets, including two run-outs.
However, Matthew Wade rued failing to execute yorkers perfectly.
“Thought we bowled pretty well, just couldn’t nail our yorkers, easier said than done especially on a small ground like this. Lot of positives to take out from this game. Inglis was class. We thought we did fairly well, Ellis bowled a big over for us to take it into the final over, it went down to the last ball so it shows how close it was,” Matthew Wade said.
