National duty over playing T20 Leagues? It seems for Rashid Khan, who has opted to play out of the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) with Adelaide Strikers. The Afghanistan superstar confirmed the news to his BBL club Strikers. Rashid has opted out of BBL due to a back injury, for which he will require operation as well. Also, with Afghanistan also playing a three-match T20 series against India, Rashid seems doubtful for that series as well
The three T20Is against Indians will be good preparation for Afghanistan ahead of the T20 World Cup set to take place on June 04 in the West Indies and Caribbean next year. Rashid is one of the vital players in the T20 set-up and is the Afghanisthan’s leading wicket-taker.
Meanwhile, Strikers General Manager Tim Nielsen said missing Rashid for this BBL will be a huge loss for the team.
“Rashid is a beloved member of the Strikers and a fan favorite who has been with us for seven years, so he will be extremely missed this summer,” Nielsen said.
