FIFA Chief of Global Football Development and legendary coach Arsene Wenger signed an MoU with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) for the growth and development of grassroots football in India. Wenger is currently in India for three days with his FIFA Talent Development Scheme team. This is in relation to the opening of the AIFF-FIFA Academy in Bhubaneswar.
“Thank you, Governor of Odisha , FIFA, particularly FIFA president, that he has supported us through every possible way. India has huge potential. Thus it is proud moment for me when a person like Arsene Wenger is here in India. His guidance, his leadership, his technical plan strategy will help India to dream well.” said AIFf President Kalyan Chaubey on signing the MoU.
“I’m happy to be in India with my team. Who is here as well to analyse well what is needed in this country. That the best countries in the world had the best education system of young players. Our program is about, is to identifying the talent in India, giving them a good coaching program and a good level of competition” said Arsene Wenger.
The MoU paved the way for the AIFF-FIFA academy in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Arsene Wenge will launch the academy in the state as part of the FIFA Talent Development Scheme. For all Indian football aspirants, this will be the first-ever AIFF-FIFA talent academy in the nation and a fantastic chance.
“We start here in Odisha, visiting the qualities of the infrastructure, which are great. We have dedicated our own coach and the development system over the years. So we together, start, something with the President of AIFF and with the State of Odisha.” added Wenger.
“I have high hopes, expectation and dream by the presence of Arsene Wenger through this AIFF-FIFA development academy that we will definitely get our best national team in our 17 category in coming 3 years.” Chaubey said in the regard.
The primary goal of the AIFF-FIFA academy’s establishment is to give the nation’s football players access to top-notch facilities. Mr. Sergi Amezcua Fontrodona is set to be named as the academy’s head coach.
There will be an agreement between AIFF and FIFA over the National Football Championship’s upgrade to the Santosh Trophy. The duration of this arrangement is five years. The competition, now known as the FIFA Santosh Trophy, will take place at a higher level to highlight Indian potential.
