Hyderabad FC vs Mohun Bagan Super Giant clash won’t be played in Hyderabad. The ISL 2023-24 encounter has found a new home in Odisha’s Kalinga Stadium. The Nizams Were set to face the Mariners at Gachibowli Stadium on December 2. However, complying with the security factors, the game has been changed. It comes on the backdrop of 5th IND vs AUS T20 which was scheduled in Hyderabad but will likely be played in Bengaluru.
The club has not stated why Hyderabad FC vs Mohun Bagan game was moved to Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga Stadium, which also serves as Odisha FC’s home venue. However, it is believed that the club decided for security reasons. With Telangana assembly election results to be announced on December 3, police protection for the match will be a difficult affair. Hence, the ISL clash will be moved out.
As a result of this change, Hyderabad FC will play their next four games away from their home, Gachibowli Stadium. Following the international break, the ISL will resume, with Hyderabad FC facing Kerala Blasters FC at Kochi in Match week 7.
Following that, they’ll play Mohun Bagan Super Giant at Kalinga Stadium, followed by two more road games against NorthEast United FC and Odisha FC. The club will then return to their home venue in Matchweek 11 to face Jamshedpur FC.
Hyderabad FC had a slow start to ISL 2023-24, as the team is still looking for its first win after six games. The club has lost three games and drawn the other three. The club is currently in second place from the bottom in the league.
Defending winner Mohun Bagan SG, on the other hand, is now third with 12 points in four games. This season, the Kolkata club is unbeaten.
Since the All India Football Federation (AIFF) put a transfer restriction on the club in November last year, Hyderabad FC’s season has been marred by issues. It was in response to a FIFA order during a contract dispute involving Spanish midfielder Nestor Jesus Gordillo. FIFA imposed a new transfer restriction on the club on November 16, 2023, for failing to pay wages and dues.
