Former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea may be without a club at 33 years of age. But he is in no mood to head to Saudi Arabia yet. He has reportedly turned down the chance to follow former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo to Saudi Arabia.

Since leaving Manchester United in the summer, De Gea has been out of football with Man United manager Ten Hag signing Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana to take his place.

De Gea has been linked with teams all over the world, yet he remains without a club despite winning the Golden Glove in the Premier League last season.

David De Gea rejects fat cheque

According to a report by The Sun, the keeper recently turned down the chance to earn big money at Saudi Pro League team Al Nassr.

Although the deal offered, worth around £500,000 per week, would have been even more lucrative than what De Gea was earning at Old Trafford, De Gea reportedly turned down the opportunity to join the club due to his wife’s reluctance to relocate to the Middle East.

Al Nassr’s present first team goalkeeper Saudi international Nawaf Al-Aqidi has started 11 of Al Nassr’s league games this season, but has managed just three clean sheets in that time as the club sit second in the Saudi Pro League table.

De Gea has also reportedly been linked with a move to Major League Soccer (MLS), with David Beckham’s Inter Miami reportedly keen on bringing the Spaniard to the DRV PNK Stadium.

If De Gea opts for a move to the United States, he will join the group of Spanish-speaking players in the team. It includes Argentina legend Lionel Messi and former Spanish teammates Sergio Busquets, as well as Jordi Alba.

A move to the La Liga could also be on the cards, with speculation intensifying that he could return to the Spanish capital to play for his former club Atletico Madrid for the very first time since leaving them in 2011.
