Indian golfer Avani Prashanth has been on a roll, with a meteoric rise in terms of her career over the past years. Attributing her success to skill and secondarily technology, the young Indian golfer is well on her way to become one of the established golfers that the country has ever produced. Ahead of the Asian Games 2023, Avani had spoken with us about her chances at the marquee event and her future with the sport, while her father too offered insights as to how they were charting her career ahead.

Supported strongly by the Chola group, Cholamandalam finance limited has always been committed towards promoting golf sport in India and promoting young golfer’s to achieve big heights and make nation proud.

Avani Prashanth – a young golfer

The Indian golf sensation began playing when she was a mere 3 years 10 months old, with her parents always at her side since then. The duo back their daughter’s ambition to become the number one golfer in the world. It was in 2007 that Avni first saw her parents play golf in South Africa and followed suit, only to become a star a few years later.

Avani describes honesty and discipline as two areas which has helped her grow stronger in the sport alongside focus and concentration. She also had expressed full faith in performing in her best ability at the recently concluded Asian Games 2023

The future of golf in India

While it is pretty evident and as admitted by Avni and her father, golf is still an inaccessible sport in India. While, a lot of work has to be put in for that case, Avani and her father have put technology to a good use to nurture the career of the young golfer. The data received from technology has, in no doubt, has diminished the error reduction and with specific help from UpGame has helped in their planning and tracking stats as well.

Avani Prashant eyes to compete in 10-11 tournaments ahead of the Paris Olympics in 2024 where she is all set to represent India as a young golfer. She wants to follow the likes of her idols Nelly Coder and Lidiaco en route to her establishing herself as one of the greatest golfers in the world and from India.
