The Argentina national football team’s second training session kicked off on Thursday as they prepare to face their bitter rivals Uruguay in Group D of the World Cup qualifying competition. The team was missing a number of players due to busy schedules, but they were in good spirits as they welcomed back Lionel Messi to the training ground.
At the training session that was open to the media, the spotlight was on the team’s star player Lionel Messi. The Argentine superstar was in perfect physical shape, showing no signs of his recent injury that has kept him off the field for Inter Miami recently.
During the training session, Messi scored an incredible goal in the small-sided football match. His performance was widely praised, especially a photo of him leaping high over teammate Rodrigo De Paul and heading the ball had social media users going ga ga over the Argentine World Cup winner.
One social media user commented, “Messi jumping 2 times the height of De Paul. Greatest jumper of all time.”
Another user said, “Messi and de Paul; a symphony of unwavering friendship.”
Another user wrote, “No way Messi would have jumped this high if De Paul wasn’t close by.”
Scaloni on Lionel Messi
Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni in a press conference on Wednesday played down fears of Messi being injured.
“Messi is fine, he is doing well. Even though he’s played one game in the last 25 days, he’s been training normally, he’s fit and good.
