Borja Couce, Luka Modric’s agent, has commented on the Croatian’s potential transfer to Saudi Arabia. Couce has indicated that Modric would be open to a move to the Middle East from Real Madrid as the January transfer window approaches.

“Modric is currently thinking about Real Madrid, but the idea of him moving to the Saudi Pro League is possible if the offer is suitable,.” Couce said speaking to Sportsklub.

This season, the Croatian midfielder has hardly made any appearances at Santiago Bernabeu. Los Blancos have a strong midfield this season, with Fede Valverde, Toni Kroos, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Eduardo Camavinga all contributing. Last season, the 39-year-old was still an important piece. Carlo Ancelotti, however, has taken away his starting berth this time around.

As the January transfer window approaches, Couce has suggested that his client may be now finally open to a move to the Middle East. He further disclosed that Luka Modric has already had multiple Saudi Arabian bids.

“Saudi clubs? This summer there was interest in Modric with the aim of signing him. The player has several offers, from a club from the capital and another club.” Couce added.

Modric has also been open about turning down rich offers from Saudi Arabia this summer. It was in order for him to stay in the Spanish capital with the expectation of a similar function. However, it appears that he is now dissatisfied with not having it.

Insidesport

Despite appearing in 15 games for Real Madrid this season, the 38-year-old has only started six of them. The midfielder has earlier even expressed dissatisfaction with his little playing time this season.

It would be surprising if Modric left in the middle of the season, especially given the opportunity to finish his career in Spain with the La Liga title. His tremendous competitive spirit, however, is what made it possible for him to stay at this level for so long. Modric might however conclude that another six months as an substitute is too lengthy .
