With just a week to go for the IND vs AUS T20 series, India squad remains a mystery. With India Cricket Team marching to the Cricket World Cup final, BCCI selection committee has refrained from announcing the squad. Now, the squad for India vs Australia T20 is likely to be named on Monday, Nov 20. InsideSport has learned that all players from the squad have already been informed. They will assemble in Visakhapatnam on Nov 21. With Hardik Pandya injured and Suryakumar Yadav to be rested, Ruturaj Gaikwad is the frontrunner to lead the team.
Even though Australia had announced the team earlier, BCCI has left it to the last moment. Initially, the idea was to announce the team after an update on Hardik Pandya.
Had Hardik been fit and played in the Cricket World Cup, Suryakumar Yadav would have led in the IND vs AUS T20 series. But since SKY is playing in WC, he will be rested from the India vs Australia series.
That leaves the captaincy position vacant for Ruturaj Gaikwad to fill in the gap. Having led India to Asian Games gold medal, he is the prime contender to lead in the IND vs AUS T20 series.
Apart from Gaikwad, the likes of Sanju Samson, Prasidh Krishna, Yashasvi Jaiswal among other Asian Games squad will make up the squad for Australia series.
